Moving to British Columbia
British Columbia, Canada’s most westerly province, is mainly covered by forests and encompasses the Rocky Mountains. It is one of North America’s most mountainous regions. The highest mountain is Fairweather at 15,298 feet.
The Aboriginal people were first to arrive and lived off of local resources and developed one of the richest cultures north of Mexico. In 1774, the Spaniards visited British Columbia and established the first permanent colony, resulting in the abundance of Spanish names in the area. With the discovery of gold, many people fled to the province in search of instantaneous wealth.
Economy:
Following World War II, British Columbia became a cultural center when artists, poets, and musicians were drawn to the picturesque scenery and warmer temperatures. Due to its mountainous region with many rivers, the province is a prime location for fishing, mining and logging.

British Columbia’s population is 3,907,738 according to a 2001 census.
